In Mynamar our longer ten night cruises are offered as a
package inclusive of all land arrangements before and
after your Pandaw Cruise. However many travellers choose
to extend their stay and visit the mountains, beaches or
other cultural treasures in this fascinating part of
South East Asia. For travellers with insufficient time
for a long cruise we offer our classic Royal Burmah two
and one night cruises between Pagan (Bagan) and
Mandalay. You can build your vacation tours around the
Royal Burmah cruise with trips to the Inle Lake, the
beaches at Ngapali and further afield. Some of these are
real adventure tours and others cushioned with
comfortable boutique hotels.
PROGRAMME 1
(LAES
& MOUNTAINS)
Day 1 :
Mandalay - Heho - Pindaya (B/L/D) by flight
Disembark at
RV Pandaw and transfer to Mandalay airport for departure
to Heho. Arrive at Heho airport and drive up to Pindaya
- a small quiet town famous for its millions of years
old caves, deposited with thousands of pagodas during
the past centuries. On the way, enjoy the scenic view of
the mountains and the countryside. Lunch at a restaurant
in Pindaya. After lunch, sightseeing Pindaya Cave,
traditional Shan paper making and umbrella making
cottage industry. Dinner and overnight at Conqueror
hotel.
Day 2 :
Pindaya - Kalaw - Inle (B/L/D)
After
breakfast at hotel, morning drive to Kalaw (2 hrs drive
from Pindaya). Arrive at Kalaw and sightseeing Kalaw.
Lunch at Kalaw. After lunch, continue drive up to Inle
Lake (2:30 hrs drive from Kalaw) - the second biggest
lake in Myanmar famous for its unique leg-rowers and the
scenic beauty of its spawling lake. Transfer to hotel
for check-in. After check in, sightseeing Inle by boat.
Tour highlights are Phaungdaw Oo Pagoda; famous for it
five Buddha images enshrined in the temple, Ngaphechaung
Monastery; well known because of jumping cats,
traditional ways of fishing and floating gardens.
Overnight at Golden Island Cottage Hotel.
Day 3 :
Inle Lake
After
breakfast, continue Inle Lake sightseeing include Indain
village with its idyllic 16th century pagodas. We can
also visit to Inpawkhone village; famous for its Silk
weaving handlooms. Lunch at a restaurant. Dinner and
overnight at hotel in Inle.
Day 4 :
Inle - Heho - Yangon
After
breakfast at hotel, drive to Heho airport for departure
to Yangon by flight. Arrival at Yangon International
Airport. Transfer to hotel and after lunch, sightseeing
around the downtown area and visit Scott Market. Dinner
at a restaurant and overnight at hotel in Yangon.
Day 5 :
Yangon Departure
Transfer to
Yangon International airport for departure.
PROGRAMME 2 (ANCIENT
ARAKAN)
Day 1 : Yangon – Sittwe ( B / L / D ) By
Flight
After breakfast at the Hotel, transfer to airport
for flight to Sittwe – the capitalof Western Rakhine
State. Arrive at Sittwe and transfer to the Hotel for
check in. After settling into the hotel, take the lunch
at local restaurant and enjoy an afternoon exploration
of Sittwe including Cultural Museum- the introduction to
the geographical and cultural value of the area;
Maharkhuthalar Monestary; the Lawkanandar pagoda; the
local market followed by a sunset stroll along the
waterfront to the lighthouse on the Point. Dinner at the
Hotel or local restaurant and overnight at Sittwe Hotel
(Standard room ).
Day 2 : Sittwe – Mrauk Oo ( B / L / D ) By Boat
After breakfast at the Hotel, transfer to the jetty
then River cruise towards Mrauk Oo ( approx 6 hour).
Arrival at Mrauk Oo and transfer to the Hotel for check
in. Lunch at local restaurant. After lunch, visit to the
Shitthaung pagoda – 80,000 Buddha images and
sculptures; Andaw Thein Temple - means the Pagoda
enshrining the tooth-relic of Buddha; Yandanar Pon
Pagoda - surrounded with small pagodas; Laymyathnar
Pagoda or the four-faced pagoda and Htaukkanthein –
the structure is like a flat surface in the form of a
drum. Dinner at the Hotel or local restaurant and
overnight at Nawarat Hotel ( Superior room ).
Day 3 : Mrauk Oo – Mro / Khami village ( B / L / D
) By Boat
After breakfast at the Hotel, transfer to the jetty
and take the boat ( appox : 1& ½ hour) to
visit the Mro / Khami villages like Ahkyitawma village,
Maung-Hnama village, Laungshechaung village – study
their native ways of living and return to Mrauk Oo.
Lunch at the local restaurant. After lunch, next visit
to Koethaung Pagoda - old palace wall and the palace
site area; Yadanar Man Aung Pagoda; Setkya Man Aung
Pagoda and Laungbunmyauk Pagoda. Then visit to
Harretaung Hill to see the beautiful sunset scene over
the Hill. Dinner at the Hotel or local restaurant and
overnight at Nawarat Hotel ( Superior room ).
Day 4: Mrauk Oo - Sittwe- Yangon via Thandwe for
Ngapali Beach ( B / - / - ) By Boat & Flight
Early morning ( between 4 – 5 am ) check out and
transfer to the jetty, then River cruise towards Sittwe.
Arrival at Sittwe, transfer to the airport for fly back
to Yangon via Thandwe. You can stop off here on a per
night basis at our partner resort (see Indian Ocean
Paradise page). On returning to Yangon you will be
transferred to a hotel of your choice (see Yangon Hotel
Partners page).
PROGRAMME 3 (THE OLD MON)
Day 1: Yangon-Bago-Kyaikhtiyo (B/L/D) by Coach
After breakfast at hotel, early morning drive to
Bago (80 km from Yangon). On the way visit to Htaukkyant
World War II Cemetery. Then proceed to Bago. Arrive at
Bago - an ancient capital of Mon Kingdom in 15th
century. Tour hightlights include: Kyakhatwine Teaching
Monastery, Shwe-tha-lyaung Reclining Buddha Image and
Shwemawdaw Pagoda. Then continue drive to Kyeikhtiyo. We
will proceed to Golden Rock (Kyaikhtiyo Pagoda)- stands
on a gold gilded boulder precariously perched on the
edge of the hill over 1100 m above sealevel. It is an 11
km up-hill climb for the hikers to Kimpun base camp.
But, tourist can travel to Rathedaung by truck, taking
45 minutes and then walk 45 minutes up to the Pagoda.
Overnight at hotel in Kyeikhtiyo.
Day 2: Kyaikhtiyo-Pha an - Mawlamyine (B/L/D) by
Coach
After breakfast at the hotel, drive to Pha-an, on
the way visit to Bayint Nyi Cave. This is a type of lime
stone cave with a cold & hot spring lake within the
cave. Arrive at Pha-an, visit to Shwe Yin Myaw Pagoda.
Lunch at a restaurant in Pha-an. After lunch, continue
drive to Mawlamyine. On the way visit Saddan Cave with a
number of Buddha images gilded on the lime stone walls .
Arrive at Mawlamyine and transfer to hotel. After check
in, visit to Mahamuni Pagoda-built in traditional Mon
style, Kyaikthanlan Pagoda- the most visible and tallest
stupa. Dinner and overnight at hotel in Mawlamyine.
Day 3: Mawlamyine-Thanbyuzayat-Mawlamyine (B/L/D) by
Coach
After breakfast at hotel, drive to Thanbyuzayat (34
km drive from Mawlamyine). On the way visit Kyaikkhami
Pagoda - perched on the rocks by the sea and joined to
the land by a covered causeway. Then proceed to
Thanbyuzayet, visit to Death Railway that connects
Myanmar and Thailand built by Japanese during World War
II, Death Railway Museum, World War II Cemetery of
allied soldiers and Thanbyuzayat Market. Then drive back
to Mawlamyine. Dinner and overnight at hotel in
Mawlamyine.
Day 4: Mawlamyine-Yangon (B/L/D) by Coach
After breakfast at hotel, drive to Yangon. Arrive at
Yangon and check in to hotel. Lunch and dinner at a
restaurant. Overnight at hotel in Yangon.
Day 5: Yangon Departure
After breakfast, transfer to Yangon International
Airport for departure.
